PCOS has a new name - it is now known as PMOS which stands for Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
PMOS affects 170 million women worldwide - or 1 in 8 women - with impacts on weight, metabolic and mental health, skin and the reproductive system.
The name change highlights the complex, whole body nature of the condition, recognising that it extends far beyond the ovaries and reproductive health alone.
It reflects growing scientific understanding that hormonal, metabolic, inflammatory and psychological factors are all interconnected in PMOS, helping improve awareness, diagnosis and long term care for millions of women.
