RosMedics is now a HIW Registered Independent Hospital offering bespoke blood testing, health consultations and iron infusions.

IRON INFUSIONS

IronOx — RosMedics' dedicated iron infusion clinic, in the same building on Cathedral Road.

Still exhausted, foggy and running on empty — even after being told your bloods are "normal"? You're not imagining it, and you're not just tired. Ferritin can sit in the low-normal range and still leave you wiped out, which is exactly why a proper iron study is worth doing.

IronOx is RosMedics' dedicated iron clinic. We diagnose iron deficiency properly, and where it's the cause, we correct it directly with IV iron — so many patients start to feel more like themselves again in the weeks after treatment, rather than waiting months on tablets. Your care is doctor-led, HIW-registered (Healthcare Inspectorate Wales) and delivered in a monitored, ALS-trained setting.

As RosMedics' sister iron clinic, IronOx runs from the same building on Cathedral Road in Cardiff. You can book a free, no-obligation consultation at our iron infusion clinic in Cardiff.

WHY IRON INFUSIONS?

When iron is genuinely low, IV iron does in one or two short sessions what tablets struggle to do over many months. Here's why patients choose an iron infusion with us:

  • Direct correction. IV iron replenishes your stores far faster than oral tablets, so where deficiency is the cause, many people feel the difference within weeks rather than months.
  • It bypasses the gut. Iron tablets are often poorly absorbed and can cause nausea or constipation — an infusion sidesteps the stomach entirely.
  • Usually just one or two sessions. For most patients a full course is one or two appointments, not a daily tablet routine you have to remember.
  • Targets the symptoms that wear you down. Exhaustion, brain fog, breathlessness, hair shedding and restless legs are all commonly associated with iron deficiency, and may improve once your iron is corrected.
  • Doctor-led safety throughout. Your infusion is planned and supervised by a GMC-registered doctor, in an HIW-registered, ALS-trained setting.
  • A complimentary recovery session. Every IronOx infusion includes one complimentary hyperbaric oxygen (HBOT) session for recovery and wellbeing — at no extra charge.

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE – OUR APPROACH

This is meant to feel like a conversation, not a conveyor belt. Here's how it goes:

You start with a free consultation — virtual or in clinic, whatever suits you. We review or arrange an iron blood study (ferritin, transferrin saturation and a full blood count, often with B12, folate and an inflammatory marker), then talk through what it actually shows. We want to understand why your iron dropped, not just the number on the page.

If an infusion is right for you, it's given in a calm, monitored environment, with a small cannula and time to relax — many patients are surprised by how unremarkable it feels. You can usually return to normal activities the same day, and we'll follow up to see how you're getting on.

You've likely felt this way far longer than you needed to. Every week you wait is a week you didn't have to spend running on empty — and finding out where your iron stands is a simple, low-stakes place to start.

SIDE EFFECTS

IV iron is generally well tolerated, with mild, short-lived effects in some patients. Being open about them is part of doing this properly:

  • A mild headache or feeling a little flushed during or just after the infusion.
  • Some people notice brief nausea or a temporary metallic taste.
  • Mild aches or a "done a lot" feeling for a day or so afterwards.
  • Rarely, a more significant reaction can occur — which is precisely why your infusion is doctor-led and monitored, in an HIW-registered, ALS-trained setting, never handed out without proper oversight.

Iron infusions are prescription treatments given only after an individual clinical assessment, and suitability is confirmed for each patient before any treatment goes ahead.

CONCERNS – IS AN IRON INFUSION RIGHT FOR YOU?

Iron deficiency has many causes, and it's easy to live with for years assuming it's "just life". An iron study with IronOx is often worth doing if you recognise yourself in any of these:

Symptoms you've been carrying:

  • Persistent exhaustion, brain fog or poor concentration
  • Breathlessness or a racing heart on exertion
  • Hair shedding, restless legs, or cold hands and feet
  • Headaches, dizziness, a sore or smooth tongue, brittle or spoon-shaped nails
  • Looking pale, frequent infections, or craving ice or non-food items (pica)

Groups more likely to run low on iron:

  • Women with heavy periods (menorrhagia), and those who are post-partum or perimenopausal
  • People with IBD (Crohn's, ulcerative colitis), coeliac disease or other causes of malabsorption
  • Anyone who has had gastric or bariatric surgery
  • Recent surgery, injury or significant blood loss
  • People living with chronic conditions (kidney disease, heart failure, inflammatory conditions)
  • Endurance athletes and those on plant-based diets

You don't need a GP or NHS referral to be seen. Suitability is always confirmed by individual clinical assessment — if an infusion isn't the right answer for you, we'll tell you.
