It’s been a busy few months at RosMedics, and as we move from summer into autumn, we thought it was the perfect time to share a little of what has been happening at the clinic.
Dr Ros in Lifestyle Wales
You may have spotted Dr Ros recently in Lifestyle Wales, where she is now contributing to the regular “Ask Dr Ros”feature.
It’s a lovely opportunity to answer some of the health questions people genuinely want to ask a doctor — from hormones and fatigue to iron, metabolic health and healthy ageing.
One of the principles behind RosMedics has always been that good healthcare shouldn’t just be about treating illness. Understanding your body, recognising changes early and knowing when something is worth investigating can be just as important.
Iron Infusions at RosMedics
Our doctor-led iron infusion service has become an increasingly busy part of the clinic.
Iron deficiency can sometimes be overlooked, particularly when symptoms such as tiredness, reduced exercise tolerance, brain fog or feeling generally “not yourself” are attributed to a busy life.
An iron infusion isn’t appropriate for everyone, which is why we require recent blood results and a medical consultation before treatment. The aim isn’t simply to increase a ferritin number — it is to understand why iron is low and whether intravenous iron is clinically appropriate.
The Seasons Are Changing…
The darker mornings have arrived; temperatures are beginning to drop and many of us naturally become less active and spend more time indoors.
It’s a useful point in the year to take stock of the basics: sleep, movement, nutrition, daylight exposure and how you’re feeling rather than simply accepting that autumn means being permanently exhausted!
At RosMedics we also offer mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and infrared sauna, which can form part of a wider wellbeing routine.
HBOT
Our mild HBOT chamber uses increased atmospheric pressure while breathing oxygen-enriched air. Hyperbaric oxygen has established medical applications in specific clinical conditions, although our mild HBOT service should not be confused with hospital hyperbaric treatment.
Some people choose sessions as part of their general recovery and wellbeing routine, particularly when training hard or recovering from periods of physical stress.
Infrared Sauna
And then there is possibly the more appealing option as Cardiff gets colder — getting warm!
Infrared saunas use infrared energy to heat the body rather than simply heating the surrounding air. A session can be a relaxing addition to a wellbeing routine, and there is research interest around repeated sauna use and cardiovascular health.
It isn’t a winter cure-all — sadly, we’ve yet to find one of those — but warmth, relaxation and taking some deliberate time out can certainly feel rather good when the weather turns.
Looking Ahead
RosMedics continues to develop around one simple idea: medicine should help people understand and optimise their health, not just respond when something has already gone wrong.
From precision blood testing and hormone health to iron infusions, HBOT, infrared therapy and aesthetics, we want the clinic to remain a place where medical care and wellbeing can sit comfortably alongside each other.
And there is plenty more happening behind the scenes.
We’ll keep you posted.
