Doctor-Led Medical Weight Loss

If you’ve tried to lose weight before — cut things out, moved more, started again every Monday — and your body simply hasn’t responded the way you hoped, the problem may not be your willpower. Weight is medical. It’s shaped by your hormones, your metabolism, your sleep, your history and your health, and those are things a doctor can actually look at.

RosMedics runs a doctor-led, medically supervised weight loss and weight management service in the heart of Cardiff. It begins with a proper consultation and a full personal assessment with Dr Rukhsana Jabar (Dr Ros), a GMC-registered doctor with a special interest in hormones, longevity and health optimisation. From there, you and the doctor build a plan that fits your body and your life — with ongoing monitoring and follow-up, not a one-off appointment and a goodbye. Think of it as a private GP alternative for people who want their weight taken seriously, by a doctor, in a regulated clinic.

TREATMENT INFORMATION

WHY CHOOSE DOCTOR-LED MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS?

Most weight-loss “solutions” skip the one step that actually matters: understanding why your body holds on to weight in the first place. A medically supervised programme starts there.

  • A real medical consultation. You sit with a GMC-registered doctor, not a form or a chatbot, and your history, your health and your goals are properly understood.
  • An individual assessment. Your weight is looked at in the context of your overall health, so the plan is built around you — not a template.
  • Doctor-led decisions throughout. Where a doctor decides treatment is clinically appropriate for you after assessment, it is provided under proper medical supervision — never on demand, never one-size-fits-all.
  • Ongoing monitoring and support. You’re reviewed and supported over time, with follow-up built into the programme rather than left to chance.
  • Lifestyle at the centre. Medical support works alongside changes to nutrition, movement and habits — sustainable weight loss combines the two.
  • A regulated, private clinic in Cardiff. Your care is delivered in a clinic regulated by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW), close to Cathedral Road at CF11 9LJ.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

A weight-management programme at RosMedics is a process, not a single appointment. Typically it includes:

  • A full initial consultation and personal medical assessment with Dr Ros.
  • A clear, individualised plan agreed between you and the doctor.
  • Any clinically appropriate investigations or blood tests the doctor recommends as part of your assessment.
  • Where the doctor judges it clinically appropriate and safe for you, medical treatment as part of your supervised programme — only ever after assessment, never available on demand.
  • Lifestyle and nutritional guidance to support lasting change.
  • Ongoing monitoring, review appointments and follow-up support.

Important: not everyone is suitable for every part of this service. What’s right for you is decided by the doctor at your assessment, and all treatment carries risks that Dr Ros will discuss with you openly before anything begins.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

This service is for adults who want medically grounded help with their weight. It may be a good fit if:

  • You’re living with excess weight or obesity that’s affecting your health, your energy or your confidence, and you want a doctor involved rather than going it alone.
  • Diet and exercise alone haven’t given you the results you’d expect, despite real effort.
  • You’ve been managing your weight reactively and want a structured, monitored plan instead.
  • You’d value being assessed as a whole person — your hormones, metabolism and overall health — not just handed a generic plan.
  • You want your care in a regulated private clinic, with a named doctor you can come back to.

If your main struggle is persistent tiredness or exhaustion rather than the weight itself, that can sometimes point to other causes, such as iron deficiency — our sister clinic, IronOx, looks after that side of things, and Dr Ros can help you work out which door is the right one.

This service is for adults only. It is not for anyone who is already a healthy weight and simply wants to slim, nor for managing weight during pregnancy. If you’re unsure whether it’s right for you, a consultation is exactly where that question gets answered honestly — eligibility is always assessed individually.

OUR APPROACH

From the first appointment, this is meant to feel different from anywhere you may have tried before. There’s no rush, no judgement and no script. Dr Ros listens to your story, looks at your health properly, and is honest with you about what will and won’t help — including being clear that results vary from person to person and that no outcome can be promised.

You’ll leave with a plan you actually understand and a doctor who stays involved as you go. If treatment is part of your plan, it’s because a doctor has decided it’s clinically appropriate for you, and it’s monitored carefully along the way. The goal isn’t a quick number on the scale; it’s weight loss you can sustain, supported by medical treatment where a doctor decides it’s appropriate and by lifestyle change throughout.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your initial doctor-led consultation and assessment starts from £TBC (to be confirmed). The exact cost is set out clearly when you book, and there’s no obligation to go further — the consultation is where you and the doctor decide together what, if anything, is right for you.

No referral is needed. You can book directly. Dr Ros will carry out a full assessment herself, and with your consent can liaise with your own GP where that’s helpful for your care.

You’ll have an unhurried conversation about your weight, your health history and your goals, followed by a medical assessment. The doctor may recommend blood tests or other checks. Together you’ll agree a personalised plan, with follow-up built in.

Often, yes — because weight is influenced by hormones, metabolism and overall health, not willpower alone. A medical assessment can identify factors you can’t address on your own, and a doctor-led plan addresses them properly. What’s right for you is decided individually at your assessment.

This is a full medical service led by a named, GMC-registered doctor in a regulated clinic, with a genuine in-person assessment and ongoing monitoring — not a quick online form. Any treatment is only ever provided where the doctor decides it is clinically appropriate for you, and your care is followed up over time.

No. Suitability is assessed individually, and not everyone is eligible. Treatment is never available on demand — it follows a genuine clinical assessment, and the doctor will be honest with you about whether it’s appropriate.

It varies from person to person, because the plan is built around you. The service is designed for sustainable, monitored progress over time rather than a one-off appointment, with review and follow-up included.

Yes. The clinic is in Cardiff at CF11 9LJ, close to Cathedral Road, and is regulated by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW).
